Artist Wanangwa Chandiona from Mzuzu, popularly known as Waner Chandie turns his hobby into a successful business by creating a fashion brand named Warak.  Chandie describes Warak as a clothing brand that is all about preserving the African identity, drawing inspiration from several cultures and the African way of life from a Malawian youth perspective. Speaking to the young man, he explained what Inspired him to come up with the name “Warak” as a brand name.  “Warak is a unique name, made-up name. When creating the brand, I knew what I wanted it to stand for, the core values and mission. I needed a name that was original and reflective of our identity”. Chandie said. NKHATABAY NON COMMUNICABLE DISEASE CLINIC FACES INADEQUATE SUPPLY OF DRUGS

 Health authorities in Nkhata-Bay have described the presence of only four Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) clinics and inadequate supply of drugs at the facilities as a worrisome situation resulting to overwhelming work and pressure on patients to buy their own drugs.   For instance, out of the 24 public health facilities, the NCD clinic coordinator, Jotham Cross says the four NCD clinics to cater for the district which also have undertrained staff in case management, only operate on Thursdays.  Cross suggests that if outreach clinics can be established in hard to reach areas like Usisya, Mzenga, Kavuzi and other areas, the patients interaction with medics may be simplified and resolve challenges of commuting long distances to access the services.  Sometimes due to these challenges, patients flout going for treatment thereby worsening their sickness conditions and they are more comfortable interacting with medical personnel in their communities than at the hospit...
